Stewardship at Resurrection Parish

The Resurrection Stewardship Movement is a response to the encouragement of US Conference of Catholic Bishops, our own Bishop McGrath, and Father Bob Leger, our chief steward at Resurrection Parish.

Under the mentorship of Father Bob the Stewardship Group defined its mission as follows:

Weaving together a welcoming community of all ages to nurture faith, involvement, and a sense of belonging in a dynamic unified parish.

The Stewardship group would like to invite all parishioners to become involved in helping us achieve that mission. Here is a recent update of Stewardship at Resurrection.

In the latter half of 2004, the stewardship group received input from various church ministries that the two most pressing issues within our parish were: welcoming and communication.

Ironically, at a recent Catholic business club meeting, Bishop McGrath spoke about the primary issues challenging the San Jose Diocese today. They are “Becoming a more welcoming Church, Improving our ability to communicate, and increasing our ability to fund raise.”

As of December 10th the Group has formed two committees to address the first two concerns

The Stewardship Welcoming Committee (SWC), Co-chaired by Vicky Borromeo and Brian Tierney
The Stewardship Communications Committee (SCC), Chaired by Bob Masik

The SWC is currently focused on improving the way we welcome newcomers to the parish and improving the way we welcome all of our regularly attending parishioners during our Sunday worship. We also welcome parishioners to come and join us.

The SCC is currently focused on improving communication among the pastoral team, school, lay ministries, and parishioners. The SCC is currently prioritizing which facet of communication will be addressed first. We also welcome parishioners to come and join us.

We believe in the vision of a dynamic unified parish. With the help of the Holy Spirit, we will become the welcoming, nurturing, faith filled, church of our dreams.
