Baptism
Baptism is the first sacrament of Christian initiation. Baptism is the basis of the whole Christian life, the gateway to life in the Spirit and the door which gives access to the other sacraments. (Catechism of the Catholic Church 1213). Baptism makes us members of the Body of Christ, and incorporates us into the Church. (CCC 1267). Through Baptism we become children of God and share in the Paschal Mystery of the life, death and resurrection of Christ.

Infants and young children
Baptisms are scheduled with the priests of the parish. Parents and godparents are required to attend a Baptismal Preparation Seminar offered the first Monday of each month at 7:30 pm in room 4 of the school, before they can schedule a child's baptism. Please call the parish office at (408) 245-5554 for an initial appointment with one of the priests. Attendance at the Baptismal Preparation Seminar follows this initial interview. (If you wish, you can fill in our Baptism Form online.)

Children and Teens
Baptism is celebrated at the Easter Vigil. Preparation is coordinated with the appropriate grade level classes. Children (over 7) and teens become members of the catechumenate, that is, members of the Church preparing for Baptism, Confirmation and Communion. Registration is coordinated by the Office of Catechetical Ministry, (408) 746-0172.

Adults
Baptism is celebrated at the Easter Vigil. There are regular meetings throughout the year for reflection and preparation for the celebration of the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults. The first step is to contact Mike Haas - (408) 736-9705 - RCIA@resparish.org.
