Pledge
of Peace
As a legacy and gift to the children who
will be born and live on this planet Earth,
I hereby commit myself to fostering peace.
I promise to do everything I can to help create
a common future of peace for all
human beings.
Resurrection students work toward a mission of building a community that
reaches out to the poor and homeless, helping to build a world where
peace and social justice reign.
Within each classroom, students and
teachers support the community on several levels. During Advent,
upper grade students "adopt" and provide for the needs of a
local family. Food and clothing collections take place for St.
Vincent DePaul. Eighth grade students prepare bagged lunches on a
monthly basis for InnVision, a homeless shelter in San Jose, and
students contribute money during Lent for use in overseas missions.
The school's outreach program also includes pennies for leukemia
research, student-created holiday decorations for local residential care
facilities, and holiday cards for the veterans at the Palo Alto
Veteran's Hospital. Hats, mittens, and socks are collected for
at-risk teenagers, Valentine cards are made for parishioners, and in
each classroom, a Lenten cross is decorated with notes of random acts of
kindness.
Students in 5th through 8th grade are
asked to complete service hours as part of the overall curriculum.
5th grade - 10 service
hours a year
6th grade - 15 service hours a year
7th grade - 20 service hours a year
8th grade - 30 service hours a year

Lenten Mission Cans brought
in $3,200 for our sister school!
Congratulations to all our
students for raising $3,200 for our sister school, Christ the King in Nicaragua!
This money was raised with the Lenten Mission cans and the penny drive
prior to the Halloween party. Sr. Sandy Price was able to
use last year's penny drive to build Christ the King School. She
surprised us this week by announcing with this year's penny drive there
is enough money to build another school and still provide supplies to
Christ the King!!
Tsunami Support
Resurrection School students
raised over $1,250 in January for Jeans Day. This
money will be given to Catholic
Relief Services. They have made a commitment to provide immediate shelter
and healthcare to those in need. Additionally, every child in the
school colored in 100-500 hearts, a heart for every single life lost in
Southeast Asia. These hearts will be displayed in the Farana
Center. To keep these victims and their families in our hearts, we
are stopping once a day when the bell is randomly rung, for a minute of
silence and prayer.
3rd & 4th graders are
winners at community service
Students in 3rd & 4th
grade put together over 130 lunches to be delivered to InnVision.
Students decorated lunch bags for the Thanksgiving holiday and then
filled the bags with snacks, fruit, and sandwiches. This was a
great opportunity for the children to give back to the community!
